What is it?

What is it?

We build facilitation from the inside out: presence, process, and practical moves that work in real rooms with real stakes. Expect live labs, tight feedback loops, and repeatable patterns you can remix. You’ll practice dialogos, regulation-in-action, and sensemaking that scales from pairs to whole teams. By the end, you’ll have a facilitation spine you can trust, plus the flexibility to improvise.

Standard leadership training is top-down: one expert, lots of content, a few roleplays, and an exam. You leave with concepts, maybe confidence, but little supervised time actually holding a room with peers. Advancement usually depends on one coach’s impression, not a distributed process. Safety is implied, not cultivated. And practice happens in simulations, not with live participants where timing, repair, and judgment are tested. In short, great lectures; thin transfer. The result is predictable: bright facilitators who can talk about containers, but hesitate to run one or burn out trying.

SPIRE is TIAMAT’s long-form facilitator pathway that prioritizes peer learning and participatory practice over content consumption. You train in bands, co-organize to run public events for real feedback, and progress through a transparent rubric (the MAIL model: Model, Assist, Instruct, Lead) toward certification to lead TIAMAT containers.

Think apprenticeship, not auditorium; rehearsals with an audience, not just exams.

Progression pathway:
Level 1: Model-Assistant -> Instructor -> Leader
-Can lead Crossroads & Connections and Tier 1

Level 2: Model-Assistant -> Instructor -> Leader
-Can lead Intros and Tier 2

Level 3: Model-Assistant -> Instructor -> Leader
-Design bespoke programs through practice-as-research
-Reiterate and refine TIAMAT as a whole and lead Tier 3

How SPIRE works, in practice:

You train in bands with a coach, meeting every two weeks for 2–3 hours.
Sessions rotate formats with expert Q&As, advanced practice, theory-based lectures, roleplay & peer observation so you learn the why, rehearse the how, and watch others do both.

You then co-facilitate public drop-in events live reps with supervision, plus compensation, so timing, tone, and repair get tested in real rooms, not just in drills.

Progression is via the MAIL rubric:
Model/Assist (enact exercises, give contextual adjustments),
Instruct (set frames, guide sense-making), and
Lead (hold dynamics, preserve structure, orient under stress).

Promotions require peer nominations across bands and secret-ballot endorsements, reducing bottlenecks and bias.
Instructor nominees co-run 2–3 containers before promotion;
Leader certification requires leading several containers with multi-layer supervision, including an external coach.

The aim is leaders who embody
Service: Committed to and responsible for the development of others
Pilgrimage:
Culturally mobile and fluent in adopting multiple different perspectives
Inquiry:
Humble wonder towards themselves and others
Ritual:
Trains for transferring knowledge, skills and perspectives across contexts
Enlightenment
: Orientated towards self-correction as an ongoing process, not a final destination

These are the principles by which we train facilitators to hold the stages of the TIAMAT ecology with craft, safety, and poise.
